Woodstock, Virginia sits in Shenandoah County a short drive down I-81 from Harrisonburg and Winchester. Established in 1752, Woodstock is doused in history and gives that small town feel, with that small town hospitality. Huddled between I-81 to the West and the winding Shenandoah River to the East, Woodstock is a place of quiet beauty yet easily accessible to the rest of Virginia.

Its historic small cafes and shops characterize Woodstock. As well, Woodstock is the host of the Massanutten Military Academy and Lantz Hall recognized on the list of National Register of Historic Places. The Military Academy hosts’ children from all over the world from grade six through twelve. You can often see some of those children out and a part of the community. Tri Sigma Sorority also holds residence in Woodstock, as its national headquarters is located in town. Here the day-to-day operations of the 100,000-member sorority are conducted.

When living in or visiting Woodstock, there are plenty of opportunities try new things in the town. Beautiful mountains are waiting to be explored by driving, walking or hiking. Looking for a nice romantic scenic date? Try hiking or driving up to Woodstock Tower. There you can enjoy the view of the curvy Shenandoah River while looking out over the beautiful town of Woodstock. If you aren’t in the mood for a hike, try a nice picnic near the Burnshire Dam. Set up a blanket, listen to the flowing water and take in your company while enjoying the area.

Staying in town offers plenty of historic and delicious fun as well. The Shenandoah County Courthouse is steeped in history and a very interesting tour visit. Known as the oldest courthouse that was still in use west of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the courthouse offers tours through its historical walls and is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. After visiting the Courthouse take a stroll through the downtown area located on historic Route 11. If you want a quick snack or if you are looking for a great atmosphere to enjoy lunch and a glass of wine try the Woodstock Cafe! Try some Woodstock brewed beer from the Woodstock Brewhouse, there is something that is unique to Woodstock that will make your mouth water. Simply walking down Main Street will offer plenty of food and activity everywhere you look.
